He’s baaaack! Richard Lederer could not stay away, and we are so happy that he will join us in August. He will be giving two lectures: "Confessions of a Word Lover" and "Conan the Grammarian." A late addition to our schedule is Jean Auel, author of the Earth's Children series, the first novel of which was "Clan of the Cave Bear." We hope Ms. Auel will speak at 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 9. On Sunday morning, listen to Eliot Kleinberg clue you in to the quirkiness of the Sunshine State in his discussion of "Weird Florida" (have a cheese sandwich with a holy image? We do!). Also check out "When Elvis Meets the Dalai Lama" with Murray Silver at 3 p.m. on Thursday.

It all began with a dream in a cypress wetland more than 70 years ago and grew into a landmark of grace and beauty recognized around the world. Today, Cypress Gardens still stands as a vision of natural beauty — 35 acres of breathtaking displays of exotic and native vegetation still guarded by a 70-year-old Banyan tree, planted by the original landscapers. But the gardens are more than trees and flowers; they also include a theme park, a zoo and a venue for concerts and shows.
The World Gathering 2006 committee and Orlando, Fla., invite you to experience a magical Mensa event in a city brimming with sights and sounds to appeal to most everyone. See you there!
